OUTSIDE OF OUTSIDE 바깥의 바깥, 2017

『바깥의 바깥』은 작업실이라는 내부 공간으로 바깥을 불러들여오고, 안과 밖의 관습을 해체해보보고자 한다. 나의 작업실은 바깥과 연결되어 있는 작은 창문이 있고, 이 창문은 내부와 외부를 즉시적으로 연결해주는 통로이다.
나는 인천아트플랫폼에 머무는 근 반년동안 마치 커다란 영화세트장 안에 들어와 있는 것 같은 느낌을 받곤 했다. 이곳이 위치한 중구 일대는 화려하고 붉게 장식된 중국풍의 건물이 있는 차이나타운, 나무로 지어진 일본식 건축이 모여있는 골목을 지나 화려한 네온사인과 알수 없는 냄새로 가득찬 신포시장까지 이어지는 특색있는 무대 세트장 같았다. 관광객, 현지인, 이주민들 다양한 사람들이 살아가는 일상의 부분들을 캡쳐하고 이를 무대화하여, 관람객들은 바깥에 난 계단을 타고 올라와 창문 바깥에서 내부의 무대화된 바깥세계를 볼 수 있게 된다.

『Outside of Outside』 invites the outside to the inside space of the workshop and tries to dismantle the inside and outside customs. My studio has a small window that connects to the outside, and this window is a passage that connects the inside and the outside immediately.
I used to feel like I was in a big movie set during one year of my stay at Incheon Art Platform. The area of ​​Jung-gu, where the place is located, was like a characteristic stage set up to Chinatown with a colorful and red-tiled Chinese building, a wooden alley with Japanese architecture, and a splendid neon sign and Shinpo Market filled with an unidentified smell. Tourists, locals, and migrants Capture and stage the everyday parts of the diverse lifestyle, allowing viewers to climb up the stairs outside and see the inside of the staged outer world from outside the window.
