Liquid Person 액체인간, 2021
단채널 영상 『액체인간』은 질병에 대한 경험을 바탕으로 한다. 나는 어느 날 '장미색 비강진'이라는 원인불명의 병을 진단받았고, 나의 신체를 공유하며 사는 작은 존재들에 대해 재인식하게 되며 만든 영상이다. 카메라의 시선은 액체로 된 몸 속을 탐험한다. 몸 속이라는 ‘공간’이라는 축에서 마치 바다와 같은 액체성을 가진 몸의 공간을 유영하며, 산호와 내장 장기, 미생물과 바이러스 같은 미시적 존재들을 그리며 신체의 스케일에 대한 감각을 다르게 인식하도록 한다.
다종다양한 존재들과 ‘함께 잘 지내기’위한 방법을 작가의 목소리로 독백하는 사운드를 배경으로 서사가 진행되는데, 목소리는 서라운드 사운드로 양쪽에 약간의 시차를 두고 플레이되게 하여 하나이지만 여럿인 존재가 몸 안에 공존하는 것을 청각적으로도 구현한다.
『끝섬』의 영상의 마지막이 모든 것에 물에 잠기며 끝이 난다면, 『액체인간』은 물로 가득찬 세계에서 출발하여 영상의 마지막에 ‘클라인의 병’에 대한 언급이 나오는데, 카메라의 시선이 액체인간의 몸 바깥으로 나갔을 때 다시 어떤 몸의 내부에 들어와 있다는 것을 보여준다.
『액체인간』과 『끝섬』영상 작업 안에는 한 아이가 등장한다. 3D애니메이션에서 2D 드로잉 선으로 된 이 아이는 배경과 이질적으로 존재하는 것처럼 보인다. 『끝섬』에서는 때때로 등장하여 섬을 가로지르며, 자신의 텅 빈 몸 안에 다른 생물종들과 풍경들을 투과시킨다. 영상의 마지막에 섬이 물로 가득 차오르며 텅 비어있던 아이의 몸도 액체로 가득차게 되는데, 『액체인간』영상을 보면 액체로 된 몸의 외곽선이 납작한 선으로 되어 있는 것으로 보아 『액체인간』의 몸속이 『끝섬』에 나오는 아이의 몸과 동일하다는 것을 짐작할 수 있다. 작업의 세계관은 ‘아이’를 매개로 하여 현미경과 망원경 사이를 오가며, 안과 바깥을 가로지르며 순환하고 있다.

The single-channel video 『Liquid Person』 is based on the experience of illness. One day, I was diagnosed with an unexplained disease called 'Pityriasis Rosea', and this video was made after becoming reacquainted with the small beings who share my body. The camera's gaze explores the inside of a liquid body. On the axis of ‘space’ inside the body, the artist swims in the liquid space of the body like the sea, drawing microscopic beings such as corals, internal organs, microorganisms, and viruses, allowing a different perception of the scale of the body.
The narrative progresses against the background of the author's monologue about how to 'get along well with' a variety of beings. The voice is played in surround sound with a slight time difference on both sides, showing the body of one but many beings. It also aurally embodies what coexists within.
If the video of 『End Island』 ends with everything submerged in water, 『Liquid Person』 starts in a world full of water, and at the end of the video, there is a mention of 'Kline's disease', and the camera's gaze is It shows that when you go out of the liquid human body, you are back inside a body.
A child appears in the video works 『Liquid Person』 and 『End Island』. This child, made up of 2D drawing lines in 3D animation, appears to exist in a foreign context to the background. In 『End Island』, he occasionally appears and traverses the island, allowing other species and landscapes to pass through his empty body. At the end of the video, the island fills with water and the child's empty body also becomes filled with liquid. If you look at the video 『Liquid Person』, the outline of the liquid body is a flat line, so you can see the inside of the body of 『Liquid Person』. We can guess that it is the same as the child's body in
