정혜정 작가와 유은순 기획자는 지난 1년 간의 페리지 팀프로젝트 결과로 《트러블 트래블》을 선보였다. 이 전시에서 처음으로 선보인 『끝섬』은 우리 주변의 비인간-존재에 대해 꾸준하게 관심을 가지고 개인 작업 및 협업을 진행했던 정혜정과, 개인과 사회에서 주체와 타자의 이분법적 구분에 대해 의문을 가지고 수행적 정체성에 관심을 가진 유은순은 각자의 경험이 교차하는 지점에서 비인간-존재-되기에서 공통의 관심사를 발견하고 이야기 나누며 건져올린 주제이다.

『끝섬』은 이미 멸종된 동물을 기억하기 위해 제작되었다. 이 작업에서 나는 인간-존재인 자신이 비인간-존재가 '되기'를 적극적으로 상상해본다. 나의 신체를 멸종 동물의 신체와 결합한 존재로 하이브리드 시키고, 이들이 세계를 어떻게 이식하고 감각하는지를 느껴본다.
외딴 섬은 자연이 만든 감옥이다. 넘을 수 없는 단조로운 바다의 벽에 둘러싸인 그곳은 본국과는 멀리 떨어져 있다. <끝섬>이라고 불리는 이곳에는 이미 멸종된 동물-모리셔스 파랑비둘기, 파란영양, 돼지발반디쿠트, 모아, 와이마누펭귄, 스텔라바다소, 여행비둘기, 독도강치, 판타섬땅거북, 아즈에로거미원숭이와 열종위기종인 반딧불이, 상상생물인 눈알해파리가 거주한다. 또한 인간 세계의 시스템을 구동, 유지시키기 위해 건설되었다가 이제는 버려진 사물들도 곳곳에 등장한다. 이들은 육지로부터 멀리 떨어져 타자화된 공간인 섬을 공유지대로 삼아 머물고 있으며, 각기 다른 감각을 활용하여 섬과 세계를 인식한다. 인간과 이 동물들은 다르다. 보고 듣고 인식하는 것 뿐만 아니라, 시간과 공간에 대한 감각적 인지 역시 다르다. 나는 이들이 느끼는 시간과 공간에 대한 감각을 상상하고, 정말로 이들 존재가 되어보리고 하였다. 나의 신체는 이들의 몸과 섞이고 이식된다. 섬이라는 공간 안에서 이들은 서로 피부에 스쳐가듯 눈맞춤을 하고, 미끄러지듯 지나간다. 그들 각각은 고독한 나의 세계이지만, 다른 살아있는 세계들을 인식하고 짧은 교차점을 만든다. 화면은 한 존재의 시선에서 다른 존재의 시선으로 릴레이하듯이 연결되고, 땅 아래에 있는 웜홀과 같은 구멍으로 미끄러져 감각적, 심리적 공간을 통과한다. 마지막 장면에는 물이 섬 위로 점점 차오르다가, 모두가 물 속에 잠기며 끝이난다.

Author Haejung Jung and planner Eunsun Yoo presented “Trouble Travel” as a result of the Perigee team project over the past year. 『End Island』, shown for the first time in this exhibition, is a performative work by Haejung Jung, who has consistently been interested in the non-human beings around us and has carried out individual work and collaboration, and questions the dichotomous distinction between subjects and others in individuals and society. Eunsoon Yoo, who is interested in identity, discovered a common interest in becoming a non-human being at the point where each person's experiences intersect, and this was a topic that she brought up by talking about it.

『End Island』 was created to remember animals that have already become extinct. In this work, I actively imagine myself as a human being ‘becoming’ a non-human being. I hybridize my body into a being combined with the body of an extinct animal, and feel how they transplant and sense the world.
A remote island is a prison created by nature. Surrounded by a monotonous, insurmountable wall of the sea, it is far from home. This place, called , is home to already extinct animals - Mauritius blue dove, blue antelope, pig-footed bandicoot, moa, Waimanu penguin, Stella's sea cow, passenger pigeon, Dokdo sea lion, Panta Island tortoise, Azero spider monkey, and ten species. Fireflies, a critically endangered species, and eye jellyfish, an imaginary creature, reside here. Additionally, objects that were built to operate and maintain the systems of the human world but are now abandoned appear here and there. They stay far away from the mainland, using the island, an alienated space, as a common area, and use their different senses to perceive the island and the world. Humans and these animals are different. In addition to seeing, hearing, and perceiving, the sensory perception of time and space is also different. I imagined their sense of time and space and tried to really become them. My body is mixed and transplanted with their bodies. In the space called the island, they make eye contact and glide past each other as if their skin is passing by. Each of them is my solitary world, but it recognizes other living worlds and makes brief intersections. The screen is connected as if relaying from the gaze of one being to another, and passes through sensory and psychological space by sliding into a wormhole-like hole beneath the ground. In the final scene, the water gradually rises over the island, and it ends with everyone submerged in the water.
