뉴스에서만 접하던 환경에 대한 뉴스가 체감되고 있는 나날이다. 봄에는 미세먼지로 자욱한 하늘을, 여름에는 비정상적으로 더운 폭염이 일상이 되고 있다. 공기든, 플라스틱이든, 동물이든, 환경문제는 연결되어있고, 그것은 인간중심적인 사고방식으로부터 출발했다. 인간이 자연을 타자화시킴으로써 벌어지는 것들은 그들을 망치고, 다시 인간에게도 돌아오고 있다. 우리가 서로 연결되어 있다는 것을 다시 환기시켜야한다.

비가 온 다음날이 되면 도시곳곳에 쳐박혀있던 쓰레기들이 서울의 중심을 흐르는 한강 위로 흘러나온다.
플라스틱 병, 담배꽁초, 출처를 잃은 사물들이 황토색 물위에 둥둥 떠다닌다. 쓰레기가 흐르는 한강에도 그곳을 터울삼아 살아가는 잉어, 붕어, 자라, 오리도 있고, 흰 왜동가리새도 지나간다.
한강 오리 중에는 진짜 오리도 있고, 샛노란 입을 가지고 사람들이 패달를 돌리면 정해진 구역내에서 전진하는 오리배도 있고, 플라스틱 쓰레기로 만든 로봇오리도 있다. 수영장같은 강물 위에 플라스틱을 모아 만든 오리를 띄운다. 화려한 스펙터클로 치장되어 있는 도시에 존재하지만 눈에 보이지 않는 것들은 플라스틱 오리의 눈으로 기록된다. 그것들은 사람들의 시선너머에 있다.

Plastic bottles, cigarette butts, and objects that have lost their source float on earthy water. Even in the Han River where trash flows, there are carp, crucian carp, turtles, ducks, and white heronfish that live there.
Among the ducks in the Han River, there are real ducks, there are duck boats that move forward within a designated area when people turn the pedals with their yellow mouths, and there are robot ducks made of plastic waste. A duck made of plastic is floated on the river like a swimming pool. The things that exist in the city decorated with colorful spectacles but are not visible are recorded with the eyes of plastic ducks. They are beyond people's gaze.
