Hitchhiker-Table 히치하이커-테이블, 2024

『히치하이커-테이블』(2024)는 히치하이커 시리즈 중 부분으로서 바다 중심의 지도인 ‘스필하우스 투영법’지도법을 차용하여 세계를 하나의 연결된 물로 보여준다. 그리고 이 바다 중심의 지도를 그리는 주체인 따개비의 경로를 추적하며 바다의 재영토화, 재지도화를 시도한다. 테이블은 바다의 수평선을 은유하며 차이의 단차를 평평하게 만들며 지도에서 바깥으로 밀려난 바다와 바다생물을 담론의 중심으로 소환시킨다. 바다에서 수집한 물성이 강한 재료로 만들어진 이 테이블은 『히치하이커-프롤로그』(2023~2024)의 바닷속 사변적 세계를 물성적, 실제적 세계로 이끌어낸다.

『Hitchhiker-Table』 (2024) is part of the Hitchhiker series and uses the ‘Spielhaus projection’, an ocean-centered map, to show the world as a single connected body of water. And by tracing the path of the barnacle, which is the subject of drawing this ocean-centered map, we attempt to reterritorialize and remap the ocean. The table is a metaphor for the horizon of the sea, flattening the gaps of difference and summoning the sea and sea creatures that have been pushed out of the map to the center of the discourse. This table, made of materials with strong physical properties collected from the sea, brings the speculative underwater world of 『Hitchhiker - Prologue』 (2023-2024) into a physical and realistic world.
